A nicho is a niche, a place made to hold something. The form has roots in devotional traditions across Latin America, the American Southwest, and beyond, wherever people have felt the need to give a beloved image, object, or memory its own place on the wall.
This one is made for whatever you want to keep close.
Looking at historic New Mexican tinwork, I fell in love with the petal design and its painted accents. I put that motif onto a nicho form I developed for my Contemporary Hispanic Market submission this year. The result is this piece.
The top is punched with a floral motif, the negative space painted in Prussian blue. The box interior is scored with a starburst pattern. The door is glass with a small hinged handle. The piece is magnetic, so a photo, a card, or a note will hold flat against the back wall.

CareWipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid prolonged moisture. The painted finish is durable but handle with care.
The tin will develop a natural patina over time. Natural variations in the metal are part of the character of handmade work.
Limpiar suavemente con un paño suave. Evitar la humedad para una belleza duradera.
